Gloria (Mullen) Manning passed away in California after a long illness on June 5, 2012. Gloria married Manuel “Manny” Manning at her parents’ Kenosha home in 1946, and they had 36 wonderful years together. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, in 1986 Gloria retired to Palm Springs, CA to be near her three daughters. Gloria and Manny were the proprietors of Mullen’s Department Store in downtown Kenosha until 1983. Gloria was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed dissecting every game in detail, right through the end of last season. She also was an accomplished bridge player. Her parents were founding members of Beth Hillel Temple, and Gloria, her husband and children were dedicated members. Gloria graduated from Bradford High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was a member of the Beth Hillel Sisterhood, the Kenosha Jewish Welfare Fund, the American Jewish Committee, the Downtown Kenosha Association, the Kenosha Women’s Club, the Kenosha Memorial Hospital Guild, and various trade organizations through her involvement with Mullen’s. She was also very generous in giving of her time and money to various charities. Gloria is survived by three daughters, Rhoda (Michael) Pinchak, Linda (Paul) Katona, Sandra (Daniel) Levy, all in the Los Angeles area; six grandchildren; Allison, Julia, and Matthew Pinchak, Zachary Katona, and Maddie and Chelsea Levy; a sister Diane (Edgar) Furie, in Albequerque, New Mexico, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband and her parents, Rudolph and Frances Mullen of Kenosha. The funeral will be at Sunset Ridge Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Donations in Gloria’s memory can be made to the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, California or Beth Hillel Temple in Kenosha.
